Great Barrier Reef

Hi All. It's David. I'm in Cairns (pronounced without the R) for a conference with a few colleagues. And in order to focus on work, we headed out to the Great Barrier Reef. We took a tour with Quicksilver to the outer reefs east of Port Douglas (an hour north of Cairns). The reef actually stretches for miles along the Queensland coast of Australia. Quicksilver has a high speed boat that got us to the outer reefs in an hour and a half. They've also set up this amazing pontoon/station where you are based for any number of activities from scuba and snorkeling to a helicopter ride. We just did the snorkeling. The whole setup has been designed so that anyone would get a chance to see the reefs from 5 to 85 year olds. I have never really visited any type of reef before, let alone something as amazing as the Great Barrier Reef. I couldn't resist buying a little underwater camera. It still used film, and I amazingly found a place that could still print film. They also scanned it. So these pictures in no way do the reef any justice. The scans aren't very good, and I have zero experience taking pictures underwater. Just keep that in mind.

If you ever get chance to go here, it is by far one of the best sites in Australia. It definitely deserves a spot in the 7 natural wonders of the world.

Patience...

David is currently filtering the hundreds of photographs from his trip to China in August and September, and will be posting soon.

In the meantime...

On occasion we like to check out the stats of our blog. Search terms the blog appears in are typically very entertaining given the unique combination of words that appear in our entries.

This is a new favourite: "happy ending massage for women ho chi minh city." Apparently there was potential for a large readership opportunity for our blog had we surveyed all the massage parlors in Ho Chi Minh City while we were there. For some bizarre reason this mysterious searcher did visit our blog, but stayed for a mere 0 seconds. There did seem to be a trend though as there were 6 searches out of 50 related to "massages." We stopped looking as it was giving us a deeper insight into the web we were not interested in knowing.

Incredible Expanding Jenni Part II

The last time I posted a belly photo I was 20 weeks pregnant. Apparently I've done a lot of growing in the last 10 weeks. The little one is still moving all the time, but the movements are more constricted. Yesterday I saw what I think was an elbow moving along the side of my stomach. Our obstetrician is an ultrasound specialist (read: technology geek) and so we get to see the baby at every monthly visit. As a side note I have to say those 4-D shots of the baby can be really creepy. Apparently I am giving birth to either a Picasso painting or Skeletor.

What we have learned from the ultrasounds is that the little one hasn't changed positions, despite all the wriggling and kicking: Head is still tucked into the right side of my pelvis and hips are just above my belly button. I think that puts the legs somewhere between my heart and esophagus, but I can't be sure. Anyway, without further ado... here are the most recent belly and other expanding parts photos. It's a bit perverse, but I'm still insisting on squeezing into my pre-pregnancy workout clothes for the photo shoot.

People are now saying I look pregnant, instead of 'getting chubby,' so that's nice.
